Michigan Sailing Club

Open to public. Membership includes beginner sailing lessons and use of club sailboats, windsurfers, canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards. Introductory sailboat rides for prospective members every Sat. at 1 p.m. or by appointment (weather permitting). Hosts formal regattas and informal intra-club races on Baseline Lake at the Dexter Clubhouse, 8010 Strawberry Lake. Summer social activities include picnics, barbecues, swimming. Midwest Sailing and Portage Yacht Club

Midwest Sailing sells and repairs sailboats, sails, and kayaks and docks. Portage Yacht Club has year-round restaurant, conducts sailboat races on Tues., Thurs., and weekends, has a junior sailing day camp, and rents an adjacent cottage and rents pontoons, sailboats, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards. Under new ownership 2018. Rents canoes, kayaks, and tubes; age 12 & over for kayaks. Evening glow paddles. Open Apr.-Labor Day daily; open Sat. and Sun. week after Labor Day-mid Oct. (depending on river conditions). Two boating trips available: an 8-mile (3-hour) trip from Hudson Mills Metro Park to Delhi Metropark and a 3.5-mile (1.5 hour) trip from Dexter-Huron Metropark to Delhi Metropark.
